In terms of European Union law gender based discrimination prohibition in employment

Ensuring equality in all areas of life is one of the basic needs of modern society, and practices that harm equality around the world are tried to be prevented within the scope of the prohibition of discrimination. Discrimination has been examined on many different bases, especially language, religion, race, nationality and gender, many measures have been taken to prevent it in all areas of life, and many texts have been prepared. However, in this study, the prohibition of discrimination is discussed mainly in the light of European Union Law, on the basis of gender and employment. Other grounds of discrimination and issues related to gender identity or sexual orientation are excluded from this study. This work was prepared with the method of document review, and the prohibition of gender-based discrimination in employment and gender equality were examined in the theoretical and practical sense. The study consists of three main parts. In the first chapter, the basic concepts related to the subject are defined and explained on a legal basis. In the second part, the prohibition of discrimination on the basis of gender in employment is discussed on the basis of legislation in European Union Law and in effective international texts for the European Union. In the third and last part, the prohibition of discrimination on the basis of gender in Turkish law is evaluated on the basis of legislation.
