Abstract (EN)
THE IMPACT OF SOME DEMOGRAPHİC VARİABLES TO LAWYER'S BURNOUT, LOCUS OF CONTROL AND JOB SATİSFİCATİON LEVELS This research aims to determine the impact of demographic variables on burnout levels of lawyer, job satisfaction and tendency of locus of control. The main goal of the thesis is to demonstrate the meaningful diversification in lawyer's burnout levels, level of job satisfication and tendecy of locus of control among lawyer's age, sex, the way of working, the reason to coise the profession and the lenght of service. The subjects of the research are voluntary selected among 250 lawyers who registered with the Bar Association in Turkey. In the research, following tools are used as data collection: Personal Information Form, developed by the researcher; 'Maslach Burnout Scale' in order to quantify the level of burnout in lawyers developed by Maslach and Jackson, 'Minnesote Job Satisfaction Scale' in order to quantify the level of job satisfaction and "Rotter Internal-External Locus of Control Scale" for lawyer in order to assess the tendency of locus of control which is developed by Rotter (1966). In comparing quantitative data, for the difference between two groups Mann Whitney-U Test has been used. In the case of more than 2 groups, for comparing parameters across different groups, the Kruskal Wallis H-Test and Regression Test has been used. Relationship between dependent and independent variables of the research has been tested by Spearman Correlation. The reliability and validity of scale tested by factor analyses. According to the research results, there is not significant difference in relations of lawyers' burnout and job saticsifaction between sex variable. The burnout level was observed less in feelance lawyer, individuals aged 46-55 and the lawyers who have been working for 20-30 years. From the examin of lawyer's focus of control points, men lawyers found to have internal locus of control whilist women have external locus of control. And the lawyers whose reason to chose the proffession according to belief of justice and high professional status are found more higher overall satisfication. On the other hand, the individuals who chose the carrier because of family reasons are found to have external locus of control. In addition, correlation between job satisfication, burnout and locus of control also examined in this essay and the data is showed that the higher levels of job satistification cause a decrease in emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and external locus of control levels.
