General evaluations on the formation process of Turkish nationalism in Azerbaijan

The aim of the thesis is to reveal the active role of the Turks in the Caucasus region, their struggle against the expansion policy of the Russian Tsarist regime, their first independence activities, the awakening movements of the Turks against the occupation of Soviet Russia and the Russification policy, the efforts of the Turkish bourgeois and intellectual sections to spread Turkism. In this study, Evaluation has been made and information has been given about the internal and external factors that have triggered the formation of Turkism within the borders of the Azerbaijan state since the 19th century, the emergence of Turkish nationalism, its development process, the path it has drawn and the struggles in this regard. The reflections of Turkish nationalism in social life in Azerbaijan and its effect on Azerbaijan's internal and external relations were analyzed. In the first chapter, notions such as nation, ethnicity, nationalism and nation state, which are used widely interchangeably, are mentioned in order to determine the scope of the thesis, to form the basis within the concept and to understand the subject. The conceptual framework that examines the birth of nationalism, how the nation and nationalism emerged in which period is explained. In the second part, the reaction of the people against the destruction of the ethnic identities of the Turks on the political, social and cultural changes in the Azerbaijani lands as a result of the occupation of the Tsar and the Soviet period, the efforts to get rid of Russian imperialism and the effects of the positive steps carried out in this process are emphasized. In the third part, the effects of the bourgeois and intellectuals, who are the notables of Azerbaijan, on the ideology of Turkish Nationalism and Turanism were examined in the struggle of the Azerbaijani people for their cause.
