The mediator role of emotional intelligence in the relationship between attachment styles and trait anxiety

Abstract (EN)
The purpose of this study is to analyze the relations between attachment styles, trait anxiety and emotional intelligence. The sample consists of 596 university students. Participants were given Relationship Scales Questionnaire to measure their attachment styles, Trait Anxiety Scale to measure their trait anxiety level, Schutte Emotional Intelligence Scale to measure their emotional intelligence and personal information form to learn about participans' demographic information. In order to analyze the data that is conducted, Independent T-Test is used to analyze the difference between two parametric groups and One-Way ANOVA is used to compare more than two parametric groups. Also, Mann-Whitney U Test is used to analyze the difference between two non-parametric groups and Kruskal-Wallis H Test is used to compare more than two non-parametric groups and finally, Spearman Correlation Analysis and Regression Analysis were used. As a result of the findings, it is appeared that there is a partial mediator effect of emotional intelligence in between the relationship of secure attachment and trait anxiety. Similarly, there is a partial mediator effect of emotional intelligence in between the relationship of insecure attachment and trait anxiety. Finally, the limitations of the study and suggestions for future studies are also discussed.
