Investigation of some physiological and morphological parameters in some bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) varieties

Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to analyze the relationships between wheat grain yield and some morphological and physiological parameters. Ten wheat bread wheat genotypes were grown in randomized complete block design with 3 replications under rainfall conditions in experimental field of GAP International Agricultural Ressearch and Training Center during 2012-2013 growing season. Analysis of variance showed that the cultivar of Pehlivan had highest values for ash content in flag leaf (% 14,51), grain filling rate ( 0,86 mg/day) and grain yield ( 688,88 kg/da). Anapo had highest values for grain filling period (54.66 day) and Cemre had highest leaf area index (2,65) and harvest index ( % 52,77) among all cultivars. The correlation analysis results of the study showed significant relationships among grain yield biomass and ash content. The genotypes, which had high chlorophyll content, ash ratio, leaf area index, grain fillling period and rate, leaf erecness and hectoliter parameters, had high potantial for grain and biological yields. Due to high relationships of physiological and morphological parameters with grain yield, this parameters can be deeply investigated for the availability in breeding process. The results shows that especially spad values, ash content in flag leaf and biomass can be used as a indirect selection cririterion at wheat breeding in Southeast Anatolia conditions.
