The effects of some ornithological activities on students' perceptions of the ornithologic knowledge and science course and the environment

In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the effects of ornithological activities prepared on students' perceptions of science lesson and environment. The study was carried out on 20 female students studying in the seventh grade of Yunus Emre Imam Hatip Secondary School in the town of Dörtdivan in Bolu in the 2018-2019 academic year and participating on a voluntary basis. In the study, qualitative research supported quantitative research method was used. In the study, ornithology knowledge tests were used to measure the ornithological knowledge of the students in order to collect data and semi-structured questions were used to measure the change in environmental perceptions. Ornithology activities developed by the researcher were applied to the sample group and applied trainings were carried out by conducting field studies. Teaching methods and techniques such as experimenting, narrating, dramatization, playing games, making trips and observations, using analogies were used in the study. According to the findings obtained in the research; the ornithology perspective and knowledge of the sample group of the ornithology activities prepared, increases the perception of science lesson and environment, it has been concluded that the activities carried out not only affect the students, but also the perspective of the individuals around them towards birds. Within the framework of the results, suggestions were made to researchers, curriculum development experts, and teachers.
