The views of physical education teachers on the game and physical activities course

In this study, it is aimed to determine the opinions of physical education teachers regarding the teaching process of the game and physical activities course. For this purpose, the factors affecting the planning of the game and physical activities course for physical education teachers working in secondary school, relations with the school administration and the parent, teacher proficiency perception, importance and recommendations of the game and physical activities course; open-ended questions were asked and analyzed by interview technique. The group of the research consists of physical education teachers working in secondary schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education in the province of Rize in the 2020-2021 academic year. The sample of the research; It consists of 20 physical education teachers, 15 male and 5 female, with 4 1-3 years, 4 5-7 years, 7 10-20 years of professional experience at different professional experience levels. As a result of the research; It was concluded that the game and physical activities lesson's game booklet is insufficient, the necessary playground and game materials are not available in schools, the school administration and parents do not show the necessary value to the game and physical activities course. For these reasons, although teachers know the importance of play and contribute positively to the holistic development of the child, it has been observed that they do not teach this course due to necessary reasons, and different courses are taught instead of this course. It has been concluded that the teachers consider themselves sufficient because they have received training at universities, seminars or in-service training related to the game and physical activities course.
