Youth services of municipalities: The case of Manisa

Municipalities, which are an important part of public administration, are the institutions that provide public services to the citizen in the most effective, efficient, short way, fast and low cost. As the public power and organization, these are the administrative units where the service recipients can participate and reach the easiest. While municipalities initially provided only classical city services, after the 1970s, they started to provide social services such as youth services, health, sports and elderly care within the context of social state understanding. In this sense, the importance of human capital and educated manpower together with the developing technology has made the youth services more important in our country which has a young and dynamic population. In our country, especially with the economic developments in recent years, rapid urbanization, increasing communication and transportation opportunities, young people's expectation and desire to receive services from public institutions has increased. In other words, expectations about education, culture, sports, arts and cultural services have increased. The aim of this study is to investigate the satisfaction level of service users from the services provided by the municipalities to the youth in terms of social municipalism. In this context, first of all the establishment of municipalities, development and social municipalities have been explained theoretically and then a survey has been conducted for measuring the satisfaction level of the youth services offered by Manisa Metropolitan Municipality, Şehzadeler Municipality and Yunusemre Municipalities in Şehzadeler and Yunusemre districts.
