Intellectual humility and five factor personality traits as predictors of wisdom

The purpose of this study is to examine intellectual humility and five factor personality traits on university students as predictors of wisdom. The research is a quantitative study and the relational pattern is used. While collecting the data, the wisdom development scale, comprehensive intellectual humility scale and five factor personality inventory were used. The study group consisted of 479 students as 249 females and 230 males aged between 17 and 45 who studied in different faculties and departments of a university in the middle black sea region. In determining the study group, appropriate sampling method was used to facilitate the researcher. The data collected from the study group were analyzed with the SPSS and AMOS statistics programs. In order to test the hypotheses of the study, the regression analysis was used for the correlations and variables between the variables. Pearson moment product correlation was used for relationships between variables. T-test was used to examine the variables in terms of gender. According to the findings of the study, five factor personality traits and intellectual humility were found to predict the wisdom significantly. It was also found that wisdom was associated with some of the personality traits, and that there was a significant positive relationship between wisdom and intellectual humility. From the point of view of gender, the level of wisdom did not show any difference in terms of gender, significantly differentiated in favor of total intellectual humility level, and it was found that there was a significant difference between five factor personality traits, sub-dimensions of agreeableness and emotional balance and this difference was in favor of women.
