Risk analysis and management in information technology and its integration with occupational health and safety risks

In this study, it is aimed to evaluate whether the individuals working in the IT departments of public institutions and private sector are aware of the level of awareness about occupational health and safety and whether the risks (physical, ergonomic and psycho-social etc.) they carry in terms of occupational health and safety are integrated with the legal basis. In this context, face-to-face questionnaires were applied to 430 individuals working in public institutions and private sector enterprises, which have an IT department in Adana. Study results were analyzed in SPSS package program. In our study, percentage frequency method, which is one of the descriptive statistics for the analysis of the questionnaires, was used and the data were subjected to the Kolmogorow-Smirnov normal distribution test. In addition, the necessary comparisons were made with Mann Whitney U, Wilcoxin and Kruskal Wallis tests. In our study, it was revealed that the personnel were more knowledgeable and sufficient about physical and ergonomic risks, but there was a lack of awareness in terms of psycho-social risks. It was suggested that it is necessary to evaluate the risks related to occupational health and safety of the IT sector employee together in the analysis of risk factors and general management process by making use of the results of the survey.
