The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of over iron on the functions of some organs in the body such as the liver, heart, and brain, study the effect on the function of these organs, related to high iron levels in patients with hemoglobinopathies. This case-control study included 180 participants (149 patients and 31 controls). The patients were divided into four subgroups: 89 beta-thalassemia major, 16 beta-thalassemia intermediate, 21 beta-thalassemia, and 23 sickle cell anemia, who visit the genetic blood diseases center, Nasiriya, Thi Qar -Iraq. The level of iron, ferritin, ALT, AST, albumin, high sensitive troponin, myoglobin, CK-BB, and CK-MB was measured by standard methods and hence assessment the functions of organs in these diseases. The study was revealed, a significant increase in serum iron and ferritin levels in the patient's group when compared with the control.
