Özet (EN)
This study aimed to mark the role of selenium and chromium in MetS and their association with components and to know the effect of age, sex, and BMI on the studied parameters. Samples were collected from 140 participants, and 70 of them met the syndrome criteria used in this study. The other 70 were as a control group. Participants were divided by age, sex, and BMI. The target ages ranged from 20-75 years. The concentrations of Se, Cr, FBG, F. Insulin, HOMA-IR, TG, HDL, UA, and fibrinogen were examined. In addition to measuring systolic and diastolic blood pressure, waist circumference, weight, and height. The results showed an inverse correlation between selenium and chromium with MetS. Age, sex, and BMI had a clear effect on the concentration of the studied parameters. The results showed a significant increase in the concentration of FBG, F. Insulin, HOMA-IR, TG, UA, fibrinogen, WC, SBP, and DBP. While it recorded a decrease in the concentration of HDL, Se, and Cr. Through the ROC Curve procedure, Se and Cr record a distinctive ability between non-diabetic MetS and control subjects. The concentrations of Se and Cr decrease with the occurrence of MetS, which may be useful in the future as diagnostic parameters of the syndrome or conduct studies to prove their therapeutic usefulness in improving MetS.
