A sociological study on unemployment of university graduates as a form of devaluation

Unemployment issue has been one of the areas which is discussed through different point of views and analyzed through differing connections since many years. However, discussions of the recent periods based on evaluations of devaluation of university graduate labor and its connection to unemployment. The phenomenon of 'devaluation of qualified labor' is closely related to economic, cultural, political processes and it has begun to be seen almost all societies regardless of the level of their level of development. Nowadays individuals are subject to a certain education to gain their position in society. Thus, they put forward their economic, social, symbolic capital. One of the ways in which individuals increase their capital within society is education. However, individuals, who use their educational right to gain their societal position, cannot be appropriately located to employment according to their educational achievement, in recent periods. This study is an evaluation of the present situation through literature review. It consists of four main sections; namely introduction, conceptual and theoretical frame, graduate unemployment and devaluation relation and conclusion. Today, unemployment of university graduates, inability to locate them in employment is the example of the devaluation of qualified labor or disqualification of qualified labor. One of the most important processes that are effective in the realization of this phenomenon is the 'culture of new capitalism', which reproduces itself and makes its effects deeply felt today. With this culture emerging in today's information society, inequalities have increased. At the same time knowledge has become a commodity in the process of capitalist process. In this context, capitalism has devalued knowledge and labor that they cannot be included its own process, and which it cannot be transferred to surplus value. One of the best viewed areas of this is the phenomenon of 'devaluation of qualified labor'. Countries are adopting a number of policies at the point of 'devaluing their qualified labor'. In this study which is entitled with "University Graduate Unemployment from A Sociological Perspective", the relationship of 'increase of unemployed university graduates' and 'despite being educated university graduates their remaining unemployment' have been questioned in general of Turkey. The findings of this study reveal that contemporary university graduate unemployment issue is important, requires increase in number of studies and preventative measures for Turkey as well.
