Production of the female partisanship of the football as a hegemonic masculanity field: Gaziantep Football Club female fans case

Football is the symbol of hegemonic masculinity, stadium is a place where this masculinity is performed. When we examine football, which includes many fields (media, industry, construction, economy...) in the context of "gender", which is a sub-subject of sociology, we see that non-gendered football is gendered. In every part of the football field, which is under the hegemony of men, women are ranked second and women entering the field are not taken seriously. It is impossible to leave out Gaziantep, which is a provincial city, from this contention. When we examine the football culture in Gaziantep, we can clearly state that a masculine order prevails. In this study you have, we examine how fan culture in Gaziantep is produced by the female fans of the Gaziantep Football Club, an Anatolian team.The city, which in the past had a bunch of female fans, now has the first female fan association in the Southeastern Anatolia Region. With the association, women have become more involved in the football and the stadium, as venue of football and they struggle to make their presence in the stadium permanent. By later entering an area that did not belong to them, the women adopted both the doxas of the area and changed the doxas of the area. In this study prepared with an ethnographic method, the experiences of women in Gaziantep FC about the stadium, a male-centered area, were examined in the light of Bourdieu's concept of "field" and "doxa".
