Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted as intervention research with a pre-test-post-test design (without a control group) to evaluate the effectiveness of basic life support education provided through the Pecha-Kucha method for nurses working in internal medicine clinics of a city hospital. The research was conducted from May 1, 2024, to June 15, 2024. The study sample comprised 68 nurses working in internal medicine clinics at a city hospital. Data were collected using the "Nurse Information Form" and a questionnaire consisting of "Questions to Measure Knowledge on Basic Life Support." After obtaining consent from the participants, they completed the data collection forms, underwent the Pecha-Kucha method education, and filled out the data collection forms again for the post-test. One month after the education, the data collection forms were administered again. SPSS 15.0 for Windows was used to analyze the data obtained from the study. Ethical approval and written permission from the institution where the research was conducted were obtained to carry out the study. The results showed that among the participating nurses, the highest proportion were women (85.3%, n=58), aged between 18-29 years (83.8%, n=57), had a Professional experience of less than 1 year (52.9%, n=36), and were bachelor's degree graduates (80.9%, n=55). The mean number of correct answers in the pre-test was 10 (%66,66), the post-test was 12 (%80), and the 1-month follow-up test was 13 (%86,66). Statistically significant differences were found between the pre-test and post-test and between the post-test and follow-up test. The analysis revealed significant differences in gender, age group (18-29 years), Professional experience (0-5 years), educational level (bachelor's), department (internal medicine), and training status. In conclusion, the Pecha-Kucha method increased nurses' knowledge levels regarding Basic Life Support. The Pecha-Kucha method can be used in updated and periodically repeated education like Basic Life Support. Keywords: Basic life support, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, Education, Nurse, Pecha-Kucha
