The effect of strategic location and logistic potentialof a city to regional tourism economy: Case of Manavgat

Five cities; Antalya, Isparta, Burdur, Alanya, and Manavgat located in West Mediterranean Region were compared by using Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) in this study. The study which aims to found an ideal tourism logistic centre includes geographic, demographic and technical information about these five cities. Within the study it was tried to determine the most suitable place by making use of the information. The calculation was made by AHP method and concluded. Before the calculations, information related with logistics and strategic location was given and importance of the study was emphasized. The study which has a proposal character indicated the importance of the proposed logistic centre which will be founded in a suitable place in the compared cities in terms of the regional and national economy. As a conclusion, Manavgat becomes a prominent city to found the centre as a result of AHP calculations. It was seen that the centre to be founded in Manavgat will be productive and efficient in tourism logistic manner.
