Literal movements have great importance in formation and direction of literal works. While the works have been formed with effect of period that they are included, they also reflect the case history and come up to future's expectations. These expectations from the works come up with literal movement that reflected to background of the works. These movements, growing up with requirement of society, are the resources of literal works that are reflections of social life. Pragmatism movement that came into the world as a natural reflection and expectations of social life in 19thcentury is both the reflection ofsocial life and guiding light of literal writers. Pragmatism movement that is mentioned in Turkish language as faydacılık,is among the philosophical movements that continue its existence expanding from 19th century up to the present. As much as philosophical perspective of the movement, literal effects of the movement have great importance in comprehension and reading of the worksproperly. Concordantly, Ahmet Midhat Efendi is among the leading important names of the writers who adopted to movement and reflected the impressions by the works. Ahmet Midhat Efendi is among the important writers who took being helpful to society and directing the society as a mission under favour of his thought and wording. The writer who tries to direct the readers to what beneficial is, has written important pragmatist novels as a result of his mentioned wording. Pragmatism movement that the writer benefitted in the context of social and personal benefit has a determinant role in formation and commenting the works. In this thesis, the novels of Ahmet Midhat Efendi have been analyzed in perspective of pragmatism. It has been established that the writer philosophizes the pragmatism as much as benefitting in texts as a part of fiction. The basic aim of the thesis which is original from this aspect is both demarking the pragmatism in literal aspect and also revealing the reflections of the movement in the novels of Ahmet Midhat Efendi.
