Abstract (EN)

PURPOSE: Short stature is a common condition in childhood and growth hormone deficiency is an important cause of short stature İn our study we aim to find the incidence of endocrine disorders according to the optic nerve of children with short stature, creating a lower limit for the size of the optic nerve in the normal pediatric age group and contribute to diagnosis. MATERİALS AND METHODS: In our study, at the time between January 2011 and June 2015 we studied and compare control group who had a diagnosis of headache, dizziness with normal MRI and short stature group with GE Signa hdx1, 5 Tesla MRI devices, cranial MRI, pituitary MRI and diffusion MRI.For our study, 163 people from ''patient group'' and 101 patients from ''control group'', total of 264 patients were included. 171 of those patients were from pubertal and 93 of them were from the pre-pubertal period. The pituitary and cranial magnetic resonance imaging of those patients was examined retrospectively and their right optic nerve,left optic nerve and chiasm height was calculated.Optic nerve measured from intracranial portion of optic nerve by coronal and sagittal sequence FİNDİNGS: İn our study According to the optic nerve and chiasm height in prepubertal children with short stature it was significantly lower than control group but among pubertal period children no significant difference İf Patient's group was formed short stature in children with Growth Hormone deficiency and idiopathic short stature, these two group measurements significantly are lower than contol group too.Among childrens with growth hormone deficiency and idiopatic short stature group no significant difference. CONCLUSİON: According to findings we obtained in our study it is thought that when the optic nerve hypoplasia is seen MRİ findings, endocrinopathy frequence increases and contribute to diagnosis children with short sature Key words: optic nevre hypoplasia, MRİ, short sature, growth hormone
