An examination of Buket Uzuner's novels in the context of feminist literature theory

Gender inequality is a problem that is the same age as human history. Feminism movement emerged as a reaction to this inequality against women. Feminism, which emerged as a rebellion against male domination, began to sprout from the Middle Ages. This movement, which is divided into different branches according to the conditions of the changing world over the centuries, spreads to every field from politics to art. Feminism, which first began to reap its fruits in the West, became widespread in Turkey in the 20th century. The movement, which inspired many branches of art, spread to literature under the leadership of women writers. Buket Uzuner is one of the authors who wrote about the problems of women in Turkish Literature. In her novels in which free-spirited heroines are frequently handled, she touches on many issues such as violence against women, the concept of honor, education, sexism in language, femicide, harassment.
