Abstract (EN)

It generally takes comparatively less processing time in the recognition of a single face. But it would be a lengthy procedure if implemented at a larger scale, where numerous faces are to be recognized. In this paper, the cloud computing service is used for providing scalability solution, where the required resources are increased by cloud computing in case of processing of larger data. The system developed in this study has been programmed and trained for the detection and recognition of faces with the help of cloud computing. The face detection has been done by the Viola and Jones algorithm, which used five kinds of Haar like features, cascaded classifiers, Adaboost learning method and integral image. Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) has been employed as an algorithm for face recognition, since it offers better performance in comparison to Principal Component Analysis (PCA) algorithm. The system performance has been tested on different images from the MUCT database.
