Abstract (EN)

Energy production using fossil resources is one of the topics discussed the most nowadays. The fact that these resources are consumed rapidly and their negative effects on the environment guide our world to find clean and renewable alternative energy resources. Therefore; energy production through utilizing animal and agricultural wastes is accepted as one of the prominent alternative energy resources. In this study, the energy amount which can be produced through the cattle farming potential of Bursa was detected; and also, the investment cost for this production was calculated. Regional planning model is developed to make this calculation. According to model output results, it was calculated that the total biogas produced in Bursa using the cattle waste was annually 67.844.375 m3 and the energy production based on biogas was 127.762.290 kWh per year. As a result of the analysis by the planning model, it is required to build 11 biogas facilities in Bursa including 3 C-type in M.Kemalpaşa, 2 C-type in both Karacabey and Yenişehir, 1 C-type each in Gemlik, İnegöl and Osmangazi, 1 D-type in Orhaneli. In this way, all the 1.692.720 tons of cattle fertilizer produced in Bursa can be processed and turned into biogas. Furthermore, the total investment cost of 11 biogas facilities to be built to evaluate all the fertilizer produced in Bursa and turn them into energy was calculated to be 316.400.000 TRY. Recovery duration for the total initial investment cost of the biogas facilities to be built was identified to be 5 to 19 years.
