Popular culture reflections in contemporary painting: The example of ghetto

From past to present, the influence of popular culture is seen all over the world. We can say that the most important factor in the formation of popularity is that the consumption is continuous and variable. In this context, the continuity and variability of consumption creates an environment of war between sectors. There are different strategies applied by each sector and organization to win this war. In the world where consumption is a lifestyle, it is observed that it creates a bond and communication between people. The fact that this communication increases or decreases the popularity of the product has pushed the industries onto advertising campaigns along with the media. These ads appear on TVs, billboards, etc. It is seen that in many places it appears in front of people and affects them. When the advertisements and promotions are examined, we see that they are not only a product advertisement, but also a trap adorned with a set of psychological images and colors that affect the masses. In Contemporary Painting, there are artists who produce works with popular consumption items. In the paintings of artists who use popular consumption items in their pictorial searches for close or similar reasons in different periods, it is shown that world-known brands and the phenomenon of popular culture are an original and creative possibility in the language of painting. At the same time, you will be informed about the technique used by the artists while creating their compositions, the handling of the subject, and the emotions it gives to the audience. In the research, literature review and work analysis were carried out within the scope of qualitative research. In addition to the resources related to the subject, visual and literary sources such as magazines, catalogues, brochures, libraries and photographs were used for the purpose of examination, together with the auxiliary sources to support and feed the subject.
