In this study titled "The Handling of the Strange Concept in Contemporary Art as Personal Narrative", it is aimed to examine the strange concept, which arouses curiosity with its unusual, surprising and mysterious qualities, on the axis of personal mythologies, through examples in contemporary art. In the first part of this study, which proceeds under three main headings, the relationship of the strange with the concepts of the uncanny, the supernatural and the other, which are inherent in it, is examined, and in addition, Marcel Duchamp, who plays a key role in the adaptation of the concept of strange to contemporary art, is discussed in the context of the concept of strange. In the first part of the thesis, the public sphere, which is one of the most suitable environments that meets the concept of strange, is interpreted in the context of the works of selected artists. In the second part of the thesis, it has been focused on the strange contemporary art productions that overturn the assumptions shaped through the narratives, besides, the examples that emulate the strange concept of the animal figure, which is the subject of new narratives, are emphasized by making use of mythological data. In the third part, application studies are given in accordance with the content of the thesis.
