Intellectual and formal studies in contemporary abstract art

In the first part of my thesis study which is titled "Intellectual and Formal Studies in Contemporary Abstract Art" I researched the historical process of abstract art in the Modernism era and explained the concepts regarding the abstract art with sample visuals and different sources. Abstraction came in to the picture with Kandinsky on 1911 in Munich. The concept of object sifted and abstract art with absolute concepts came up. According to İsmail Tunalı, the explanation of abstract art is reaching to an entity like 'beyond object', 'above sense', 'absolute'. While saying that Abstract art is after the pure one, it is meant that it is not 'above individual' but 'within individual' which is completely 'individualistic'. In the second part, the stylistic process of abstract art is researched and the process of the production of current abstract art with examples of artists has been done according to the philosophy of Automatism and Existentialism. Throughout the history of art, the form had to be the mold of the substance which is the essence. Before reaching to the casus of shape in the abstract art, the form without a content had no meaning. But with the abstract art, the 'concept' which lies at the center of the objects in the practical world tried to be exposed. The appreance of the objects tried to be isolated and the artist started to focus on their inner worlds with colors and isolated forms. In the Modern era, the Automatism which started to be used in the art field, appeared to us as a 'reflecting movement from subconscious'. Man is the only creature who can produce his own core and only with man the existence comes before the core. With creativity and daring to create, artists accomplished getting to the core which they started in 1940s with abstract thinking. In the third chapter, the concept on which the practices are based in the context of the visual reflections of the inner world, and the different sources in the field of psychology are examined with examples. What every artist aim to transpose changes individually.
