interactive consciousness as a directory approach in contemporary theater: The study of effects of a sample play on the audience

Many of the thought or form oriented directon methods in theatrical performances came to light, either by accident or planned, due to requirements of its era. In contemporary theater, director sometimes can imprison the audience in a closed consciousness and offer memorized practices that make the audience caught in emotions. In the history of theater, if thoughts and practices about the form and essence come together, in which consciousness of the audience can be kept open at all times during the performance, the audience can turn into a conscious participant beyond being just a watcher. By benefiting from practices of Traditional Turkish Theater, works of Bertolt Brecht and Jerzy Grotowski and stylistic effects of Post-Dramatic Theater, doors to a functional directing approach, that would serve to necessities of contemporary theater, can be opened. The quantitative data is collected with the participation of the audience after the sample play staged. The sample play is composed of factors that make the audience consciousness interactive. This thesis is a directing proposal for the "Interactive Consciousness" approach on the "participation with awareness" of today's audience in the play.
