A study on the evaluation of employee profile in the basis of Islamic religion

In the historical process, the characteristics of employees have varied according to the needs of the age. With this change, in addition to concrete competencies, the moral characteristics that affect working life become more significant. In this context, this research, aims to reveal profile that a Muslim employee should have. The research was carried out using the qualitative research method, the processes were designed within the framework of the phenomenology pattern. The data were obtained through document analysis and interviews, and the works of the Holy Quran and Riyaz-üs Salihin were examined within the document analysis. Interviews were conducted with 15 experts in different fields using the maximum diversity sampling method. In this study, experts with Islamic sensitivity and with experience and studies related to business and working life were included in the study group. The data were obtained by face-to-face and online interviews and collected through a semi-structured interview form. All the data obtained were subjected to content analysis and coding operations were performed. As a result of the analysis, 593 codes were obtained. These codes were gathered under 30 categories and basically 4 themes (Getting to know Allah, personal characteristics, perspective on the concept of work, relations with stakeholders) emerged. The behavioral characteristics questioned in the second sub-problem of the study are based on the cognitive features that emerged because of the first sub-problem. Therefore, the cognitive characteristics of employees are seen as the main source of behavior. In this study, the cognitive level and behavioral level that a Muslim employee should have, were discussed under different themes. As a result of the research; the first theme was how Muslim employees should know Allah at the cognitive level. The other three themes are what should be the basic personal characteristics of the behavioral level, how they should position the concept of work in their lives and how their relationships with their stakeholders should be. Since the level and depth of knowledge possessed directly affect the behaviors, it has been determined that a certain maturity level must be reached at the cognitive level in order for the behaviors expected from a Muslim employee to emerge. Therefore, the concrete outcomes of the first theme follow the behavioral processes revealed in the second, third and fourth themes. It has been revealed that the findings obtained in the research results are generally compatible with the literature. It is believed that the results obtained will provide a solution to non-moral, negative behaviors encountered in today's working life from an Islamic perspective.
