Word groups in Cemal Süreya's poetry

Language enables an effective communication both verbally and by writing. Words play a crucial role in this effective communication. Sometimes a single words does not manage to convey what we want to tell, in such a case we employ word groups. In this study, the word groups in Cemal Süreya's poem book "Sevda Sözleri" were examined. This work consist of four parts. The first chapter provides his biography, his literary personality and works. In the second chapter, the researchers' approaches towards "Word Groups" are explained and differences between those approaches are revealed. In the third chapter, Word groups in poems are classified and analyzed. In the final chapter, the poems of "Sevda Sözleri" were numbered according to their verses. For example; the third verse of the twelfth poem is shown as "12.3." so that the verses of each poem can be easily identified. This study aim to contribute to the "Word Groups" field of study.
