Özet (EN)

The concepts of economic growth and environment, which have become increasingly important, have a significant impact on each other. As a matter of fact, this effect has also been the subject of scientific research and various hypotheses have been developed on the relation between economy and environment. One of these hypotheses is the Environmental Kuznets Curve hypothesis which forms the basis of the research. On the basis of Kuznets (1955), the concept of the Environmental Infrared Curve, which is the relationship between per capita income and income injustice, was first used by Panayotou (1993) to describe the inverse U-shaped relationship between environmental pollution and economic growth. The reason why the relationship between economic growth and environmental pollution is called, is that in its research, low-level income has a tendency to increase income injustice, while a high level of income tends to reduce this injustice and put forth an inverse U-shaped relationship. The purpose of this study, in which the validity of the CEC hypothesis is tested in 10 selected countries with a share in global income, is to analyze the relationship between economic development and environmental pollution factors and to test the validity of the CEC hypothesis in these countries. For this purpose, Eviews and Gauss programs were used to analyze the environmental Kuznets Curve hypothesis and the relationship between GDP and carbon dioxide absorption and electricity consumption. The analysis consists of four stages. In the first stage, the stationarity of the series was investigated by panel unit root tests. In the second stage, panel co-integration test was conducted to investigate the existence of long-term relationship between the variables, and causality test was conducted to investigate the causality relationship between these variables. Keywords: Environmental Kuznets Curve, Global Income, Rising Countries, Panel Data Analysis.
