Özet (EN)
The juvenile criminal justice system adopts an approach that ensures that children who commit crimes are handled with justice, taking into account their age, developmental level and special needs. This system not only determines the punishment for the crime, but also provides rehabilitation and support to ensure the child's reintegration into society and the avoidance of future crimes. In this context, mediation, which was developed as an alternative method of restorative justice and is an important element of the juvenile criminal justice system, aims to establish new ties between children who commit crimes and the society, and to solve problems by considering the best interests of the child. The mediation process enables the child to admit his/her guilt, reconcile with the victim or society, and understand the reasons for the crime. Rather than simply giving punishment, this process encourages the child to accept responsibility and plays a constructive role in preventing future offending. This study will focus on the importance and impact of mediation in the juvenile criminal justice system. During the mediation process, issues such as what can be done in line with the needs of children during the trial process and what needs to be taken into consideration so that their development processes can proceed in a healthy and efficient manner will be discussed.
