Improving children's reading skills, motivation and attitudes by works based on story poems

Reading is the most important skill that an individual needs for multifaced development. There are many factors fort his skill to develop and turn into habits. Among the most important of these factors are reading motivation and attitude towards reading. The aim of this study is to improve the reading skills of students with low reading motivation non-positive attitude towards reading and reading skills below the level of class, to improve reading skills, to increase reading motivation and to develop positive attitude towards reading. This research is designed as an action research. For creating a working group, 156 students in the 2nd grade of primary school were applied reading motivation scale and reading attitude scale. Scale results were analyzed by SPSS and students with low reading motivation were identified. Among these students whose marks are not very good were identified and talking with their teachers working group consists of five students was created. With students in a working group were worked 6 hours in a day during 8 weeks.For developing students reading skills , reading motivating and reading attitude some Works were done by methods reading techniques based dialogue and story map technique.All the Works were determined with the support of branch experts. At the and of this work ıt was seen that students reading motivation were increased, had positive motivation towards reading, increased right words numbers in a passage by knowing their meanings. In addition to this ıt was found that in a comprehension of reading level three students progressed from anxienty level to free level and others two students progressed level of teaching.
