The place and importance of multinational energy companies in international economics and politics: A comparison of US and Russia

Multinational corporations have come to the forefront with the expansion of globalization. Powerful capital structures have been able to carry out their operations exacting their influence globally in a strong manner thanks to their infrastructure empowered by advanced technology.There has been a stiff political and economic competition on such energy sources as natural gas and petrol because these energy sources are the fundamental elements of growth and development in today's world. The aim of this study is to investigate the multinational corporations and the importance of energy sources due to an unprecedented increase in their role in the context of international economy and politics, with American and Russian origin corporations and their operations taken into consideration. This study is based on the assumption that petrol and natural gas are important economic and political mediums to maximize the gains and thereby take the lead in global economy and politics. It has been assumed in this study that domination of energy enjoys a vital role in maintaining and improving the gains to ensure political and economic superiority of USA and Russia. Neo-realist theory has been taken as the basis for this study. Investigating the operations, structures, and effects of multinational corporations, it has been found that the role of multinational corporations is increasing; moreover, the competition on such energy sources as natural gas and petrol, which are politically and economically important, is getting more and more fierce as an extension of the competition in other related fields with each passing day.
