The effect of multimedia enviroment on preschool students' development of number concept

Within this study, a multimedia learning environment including the number concepts from 1 to 10 has been developed for the 6 year-old (60-72 months) children group in preschools. During this process, ADDIE instructional design model has been based. In the study, as part of ADDIE, design of the developed environment has been shared, besides the effects of the developed environment on students? success have been studied.The sample of the study has been conducted in 2011-2012 education semester by 20 students who are attending 6-year-old group class in Giresun/Bulancak Züfer Mustafa Eriş Primary School. In this study, an experimental research design which including an experiment and a control group and consisting of repetitive measurements (pretest-posttest) was generated. Within the research, in order to determine the existing difficulties and the needs in preschool education process a ?Teacher Survey Form? was used. During the research, ?Piaget?s Test of Conversation of Numbers? was used as a pretest and posttest scale in order to determine the students? level of conversation of numbers and concept.As a result of the research, in terms of number concept it was seen that between the experiment and control groups there was no significant statically difference according to the pretest point averages. According to the results of this research, it has been obvious that preschool students were not successful on conversation test. It has not been determined that there was a significant difference between the children?s levels of number concept acquisition depending on the gender. It has been determined that the experiment group that was educated with this multimedia learning environment got more successful results on number concept development.
