Comparative study of thyroid hormones in type 1 and 2 of diabetes mellitus disease

Abstract (EN)

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is chronic metabolic disorder that characterized by increased blood glucose level which can cause long time to various damage to the many body organs such as eyes, nerves, renal and others. DM has two commonly forms or types, type 1 DM (also called juvenile or insulin dependent DM) occur because absent of insulin secretion at early age due to beta cell damage of pancreas. While type 2 DM (also called insulin independent DM) occur because present of insulin resistance of body cells after 40 age, and insulin secretion can suffer of deficiency stat in body. Thyroid function tests (TFT) are a many tests in blood sample used to assessment the well thyroid gland functions, TFT include TSH, T3 and T4 levels. Thyroid gland located at lower-front part of neck regulated by TSH that secreted from anterior lob of pituitary gland, to product thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) hormones.The thyroid function responsible for various actions in body like metabolic regulation, energy production and others. Thyroid disorder mainly classify into hyperthyroidism (if occur high production of T3 and T4 with it's signs and symptoms) and hypothyroidism (if occur low production of T3 and T4 with it's signs and symptoms). This study was conducted between April and September of 2022.
