Verification and analysis of the hadith of black oil

In Islamic culture, the hadiths of the Prophet (s.a.s.) play a guiding role in the daily life of the Muslim community. These hadiths contain health-related information as well as religious teachings and constitute an important part of the Prophetic tradition. This study aims to contribute to the understanding of the Prophet of Medicine and herbal treatment methods by focusing especially on the hadith on black cumin seeds. In the introduction part of the study, the subject, limits, aim and methodology of the study are explained in detail. In the first chapter, the sources of the hadith are identified and the justice and zabt status of the narrators are meticulously analysed. In the second part, in addition to the textual criticism of the hadith, how it was interpreted by the commentators, the place of the hadith in the Prophetic Medicine and its scientific evaluation were emphasised. In addition, the relationship between the hadith and revelation as a source is also discussed from a critical point of view. As a result of the study, it was determined that the hadith of black cumin was accepted as an acceptable narration by the muhaddithis in terms of senad. There are opinions that the expression "cure for every disease" in the hadith covers diseases caused by dampness and cold in a special sense. On the other hand, it has been emphasised that black cumin herb alone may not cure all kinds of diseases and that it may be more effective in some cases by using it in different ways and using it together with other ingredients. In this context, it is emphasised that there are various opinions on whether the source of the Prophet's Medicine is experience or revelation and the necessity of more in-depth research on this issue.
