Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this research is; to examine the correlation between depression, anxiety, somatization, and prolonged grief in people who have lost a relative during the COVID-19 pandemic. Following this purpose, the research has been carried out through the survey method. The individuals from various provinces in Turkey, who lost a loved one during the COVID-19 pandemic, constitute the sample of the research. To determine the levels of the participants' depression, anxiety, and somatization, the studies of validity and reliability in Turkey and the scales Patient Health Questionnaire-9 Depression (PHQ-9), Patient Health Questionnaire-15 Somatization (PHQ-15), and Generalized Anxiety Disorder-7 (GAD-7) prepared by Yazıcı Güleç and her friends, have been used. For the concept of prolonged grief, the Scale of Prolonged Grief that is adapted to Turkish by Işıklı and Keser (2019) has been used. The data that has been collected is analyzed through the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), a computer-based statistics program. In the research findings, according to the Spearman correlation analysis, the positively oriented weak relation between the Prolonged Grief and the scores of somatization, generalized anxiety, and depression, has been detected (In order, r=0,391, 0,384, 0,368; p<0,001). The fact that there is a positively oriented strong relation between the scores of somatization and the scores of generalized anxiety and depression, has been determined (In order, r=0,728, 0,706; p<0,001). It has been determined that there is a positively oriented overwhelming relation between depression and the scores of generalized anxiety (r=0,823; p<0,001) Keywords: COVID-19, Depression, Anxiety, Somatization, Prolonged Grief.
