Analyzing the effects of measures taken during the COVID-19 crisis on cabin crew members

COVID-19 has negatively affected the aviation industry as well as many sectors economically, socially and politically. Due to the epidemic, numerous restrictions have been imposed on air transport, which may have serious long-term consequences for the global aviation industry. These restrictions have affected both the passengers and the cabin crew who are responsible for ensuring the safety, security and comfort of the passengers. This study, on the other hand, aims to examine the impact of the Covid-19 crisis on flight attendants in airline transportation, based on the opinions of cabin crew. A semi-structured interview form was used as the data collection tool of the research conducted within the scope of the phenomenology model, one of the qualitative research methods. The study group of the research consists of 30 cabin attendants working in large-scale airlines in Turkey. Content analysis technique was used to analyze the data obtained as a result of the interviews with the participant group. At the end of the study, it was revealed that the new procedures implemented to reduce the impact of the Covid-19 crisis on air travel have decisive effects on the working order of the cabin crew, also have economic effects such as salary cuts, and cause flight attendants to face psychological problems such as anxiety, stress and insomnia due to the fear of losing their job. determined.
