Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between self-compassion, psychological resilience and depression, anxiety, and stress levels of individuals during thepandemic process; to determine the mediator role of psychological resilience on the relationship between self-compassion and depression, anxiety, and stress levels; to examine whether the symptoms of depression, anxiety and stress are different or not, and to identify the prevalence of these symptoms according to the presence of the diagnosis of Covid-19. The sample of the research consists of 590 individuals (351=Female 239=Male) in range of 25-65 ages (M=39.21, Sd=12.19), 180 of whom have been diagnosed with Covid-19 and 410 of whom have been undiagnosed with Covid-19. Informed Consent Form, Sociodemographic Characteristics and Data Form, Self- Compassion Scale (SCS), Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-21 (DASS-21), and Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) were applied to the participants respectively. SPSS 23 package program and Hayes' Process Macro were used in the analysis of the data generated in the research. This study showed that there was a statistically significant, positive relationship between self-compassion and psychological resilience level; a statistically significant, negative relationship between psychological resilience level and the depression, anxiety, and stress levels; a statistically significant negative relationship between self-compassion level and the depression, anxiety, and stress levels. Furthermore, the research pointed out that psychological resilience plays an intermediary role on the relationship between self-compassion level and the depression, anxiety levels; however, there is no intermediary role of psychological resilience in the relationship between self-compassion level and stress level. It was found that the level of depression, anxiety, and stress of the participants who have been diagnosed with Covid-19; who have a chronic disease which leads to being in the risk group for Covid-19; who live in the same house with individuals with chronic disease; who have lost a loved one because of Covid-19, and whose loved one has been treated in the hospital due to Covid-19 are statistically significantly higher when it is compared to the other participants. The results of the study presented findings that the Covid-19 process is a challenging life event. The results also indicate that the concepts of self-sensitivity and psychological robustness play a protective role in the face of psychological symptoms caused by challenging life events. Our research findings may contribute to theoretical, main and applicable strategies for early psychological interventions during Covid-19 control.
