Abstract (EN)
Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) is a systematic process to evaluate strategic evaluation of plans, programs and the policies applied in many countries, SEA is a tool for decision-making that enables the integration of environmental factors in the development process to achieving sustainable development. This study was conducted in Çukurova district that one of the four central districts of Adana. In this study, as a decision-making tool, possibilities of Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA) integration into the Çukurova Urban Development Plan were examined. For this purpose, primarily natural structure of study area and land uses have been mapped with GIS techniques. Four main land use types (agriculture, settlement, industry, and forest-shrub) in study area have been identified with prepared maps. Potential suitability maps were created with using a linear combination technique which is one of the multi-criteria analysis for these four areas. The results were interpreted with the Çukurova Urban Development Plan.
