The study aims to determine lead (Pb) andcadmium (Cd) accumulation in Cynodon dactylon (L.) Pers. (Bermudagrass),Nerium oleander L. (Oleander) and Pinus pinea L. (Stone pine) which representsvaried layers, such as creeping-grass, bushes, and trees for the purpose ofintroduction of negatory effects of pollution derived from vehicular traffic andincreasing effect of such plants in environment quality. The samples in the studyare observed throughout September and May, when the traffic is heaviest. Insampling of research the leaves of plants and specimen of soil in 20 to 30 cm ofdepth in range of 10 meters on both sides of main roads in campus are utilized. Inanalysis via ICP, it is concluded that the highest values of Pb (3944.3 ppb) and Cd(22.2 ppb) are measured in 1st sector during May where and when heavy trafficexist (978 vehicles per hour), and the Pb and Cd accumulation of samplesproportionally decreased with traffic, which is source of both type of metal. However, there is no conclusive evidence of correlation between Cd accumulationand vehicular traffic, the Pb accumulation in species of Cynodon dactylon (L.)(Pers.), Nerium oleander L. and Pinus pinea L. is observed to be proportionallyincreased with traffic.Key Words: Lead, cadmium, Cynodon dactylon, Nerium oleander, Pinus pinea.I
