Relationship of Republican People's Party with parties from other countries (1923-1950)

In this study, in which the relationship of the Republican People's Party with the foreign political parties is mentioned, the approach, method and preferences of party's management hereof are studies. The management of CHP (the Republican People's Party) practiced to benefit from the experience of the political parties of the Western states. However, it draws attention that the management of party has also been rather selective in its relationships with abroad. Correspondences with the International Association of the Radical and Similar Democratic Parties led by the French Radical-Socialist Party can be shown as the single example to the convergence of the management of the Party with the foreign political parties. The management of the Party is not a member of the aforementioned association, but it only prefers to participate into some meetings arranged by sending representatives. To be established a convergence with the secular, republican, radical and democratic parties of that period matters in terms of indicating the ideological course of CHP. The management of CHP has established modern officers within headquarter of the party in order to be able to follow the foreign political parties closely. Support has been received from the state organization in order to acquire the information required by such offices. General Secretariat of CHP has been closely interested in the apprehension of Turkey abroad. The management of company has actually determined its own place within the category of political parties while it has been promoting Turkey abroad. The superiority of the state bureaucracy for the administration of the country was a matter between the dates of 1923-1950, it could be said that CHP was more effective for the promotions of Turkey abroad. The state organization in Turkey has the power of auditing the organization of CHP. This position of CHP before the state organization is one of the basic features distinguishing it from other single party managements. Such position of CHP before the state not only individuates it, but also helps it to be more selective in its relationships with abroad. On the other hand, to be defined of CHP as unique by its followers provides the progress of Party over certain line and thereby prevents the management to be called with the ideologies abroad. In this study, the relationships of CHP with abroad are ambidextrously handled. It has elaborated that the study has a descriptive and promotional characteristics.
