Learning the elements of the sentence with puppets

The general purpose of this research is to measure the effect of teaching the elements of the sentence on the success of the course through puppets. It is aimed to test the effectiveness of teaching activities with puppet texts which are thought to be more effective rather than the activities in existing programs. In this respect, this research is a descriptive study. The method used in this research is the pretest-posttest control group experimental design for conducting the study. The research was carried out on the 8th-grade students in Şehit Hamit Fendoğlu Secondary School in Battalgazi, Malatya. The context of the research consists of the secondary schools in the Battalgazi district of the Malatya province in the 2017-2018 academic year, and the sample of the research consisted of the 8th-grade students of the Şehit Hamit Fendoğlu Secondary School in the Battalgazi district. 40 students in the Şehit Hamit Fendoğlu Secondary School were included in the research sample through appropriate sampling in order to provide ease of application and transportation. In the study, the "Elements of Sentence" Achievement Test and Turkish Course Attitude Scale were used for data collection. SPSS 23.00 program was used for the analysis of the obtained data. The Mann Whitney U Test was used for measure achievement and attitude between the experimental and control group students, and the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test was used to determine the pre- and post-education status of girls and boys students. At the end of the research, a significant difference occurred in the success and attitudes of the experimental group students. Although there is a difference in the retention level in favour of the experimental group, this difference is not significant. When the attitudes of the students were examined, it was determined that the mean of the experimental group was 29, 43 and the mean of the control group was 9, 58. According to the data obtained from the research, various suggestions were made.
