Comparisons on Dede Korkut manuscripts

This study is based on a comparison of Dede Korkut manuscripts. The study also examines the traces of the attitudes of the manuscript editors towards saving. Based on the data obtained, it has been tried to determine that the illiterates undertook the role of reconstructing the stories within the Dede Korkut narrative tradition. It has been determined that the women's names and surnames in the manuscripts are different from each other. The Ankara manuscript was found to have a richer content than the other manuscripts in terms of both the number of women's names and surnames (see 3. Dede Korkut Narratives Based on the Muqaddimas). The fact that the Ankara manuscript appears with a richer content than the other manuscripts can be shown as a sign of the müstensih's saving on the text. As in the manuscripts' mukaddims, the Dresden, Vatican and Ankara manuscripts, which contain the same tribes, are different in terms of the construction of the tribes. Although the Ankara manuscript contains only a part of the head of Boghach Khan's tribe, there are differences in the construction of the tribe. In the Dresden and Vatican manuscripts, it is seen that the tribes are conveyed with different constructions. The fact that a neck is included in different manuscripts with different fictions shows the savings of the manuscript writers on the text (see 4. Fictional Differences in Dede Korkut Narratives). This study focuses on the information and praises about Oghuz heroes in Dede Korkut manuscripts.The biographical information given in the manuscripts about the Oghuz heroes based on the identified examples of praises were identified and compared.As a result of the comparisons, it was seen that the manuscripts may contain different biographical information about the same hero (see 6. Common Topics in Dede Korkut Manuscripts). Finally, Dede Korkut manuscripts were compared in terms of place names.Based on the comparison, it was determined that the Dresden, Bursa and Vatican manuscripts and the Topkapı Palace Oguznames are the works of geographies close to each other.This geography is between Asia and Anatolia. On the other hand, the Günbed manuscript and Şecere-yi Terakime show more of an Asian origin (see 7. Place Names in Dede Korkut Manuscripts).
