The comparison of personality traits of people who were included probation programme through behavior inhibition system/ behavior activation system scale and eysenck personality questionnaire

In this study, the comparison of personality traits of people who were included Probation Programme because of their substance use through Behavior Inhibition System(BIS)/ Behavior Activation System (BAS) Scale and Abbreviated Form of The Revised Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQR-A) was aimed. Therefore, 150 18-60 years old, male who was included at Probation Programme because of substance use were choosen as a sample group. All of the participants replied to demographic information form, Behavior Inhibition System(BIS)/ Behavior Activation System (BAS) Scale and Abbreviated Form of The Revised Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPQR-A). As a result of analyses, it is determined the mean of participants' age is 26, 71% of them were single, 48% of them were secondary school graduate, eighty-nine percent of the participants have lifetime cigarette use, the eighty-five percent of the participants have lifetime alcohol use and the twenty-nine percent of participants have lifetime ecstasy use.Besides, the lifetime use of other substance was detected. It was confirmed that the sample group's BİS/BAS Scale scores don't differentiate statistically and the sample group have higher scores at Extraversion and Lie subscales of EPQR-A. It was detected that while the age which is the subscale of demographic information scale is rised, BAS, Sensitivity of Reward,Fun Seeking and İmpulsiveness subscales of BIS/BAS Scale take lower scores and Lie subscale of EPQR-A takes higher scores, the single participants takes higher scores than officially married ones at the BAS, Fun Seeking and Impulsiveness subscales of BIS/BAS Scale and Psychoticism subsclae of EPQR-A , the secondary school gratuade participants take higher scores than participants who has other education degree at BIS/BAS Scale's Behavior Activation System subscale and the primary school graduate participants take higher scores than participants who has other education degree at EPQR-A's Lie subscale. It was stated that Behavior Activation System subscale of BAS/BIS Scale is highest at the group of participants who have lifetime volatile use, Behavior Inhibitation System subscale of BAS/BIS Scale is highest at the group of participants who don't have lifetime alcohol use, Extraversion subscale of EPQR-A is highest at the group of participants who have lifetime alcohol use and at the group of participants who don't have lifetime sedative use, Neuroticism subscale of EPQR-A is highest at the group of participants who have lifetime volatile use,at the group of participants who have lifetime heroin use and at the group of participants who have lifetime sedative use, and Lie subscale of EPQR-A is highest at the group of participants who don't have lifetime volatile use,at the group of participants who don't have lifetime ecstasy use and at the group of participants who don't have lifetime cocaine use. Briefly, there is a relationship between demographic variables which are age,marital status,education and lifetime substance use and personality traits. Also, people who were attended at Probation System because of their cannabis use have predisposition for Behavior Activation System, and in accord with that result they are extravert and they have propensity for lying.
