Abstract (EN)
In scope of this study, an geological and inclination maps having scale of 1/10000 has beenprepared and litologycal units which take places in the investigation area were drawn in themaps. In order to determine the engineering parameters of these units, investigationboreholes have been drilled as systematically, at various places. Undisturbed soil sampleshave been taken from boreholes and then convoyed to perform laboratory tests. Besides, some soil parameters have been determined by means of in-situ borehole tests.Investigation boreholes having totally 196,5 m length have been drilled by rotary typedrilling machine at 20 different locations. Soil samples obtained from boreholes have beensent to the Soil Mechanics Laboratory named Zemar2000. Soil classification, tri-axialcompression, unconfined compression, consolidation and swelling tests were performed onobtained samples. With reference to this, five main units, namely as mudstone-siltstone, conglomerate which isformed terrace, claystone, old and new alluvium were encounted and investigated. In the light of performed site exploration, it is determined that mudstone and claystone unitswhich is outcrops within the parts of University of Dicle are determined different to be fromthe unit named as Yeniköy Formation and is called as Gediktepe Formation. According toperformed tests on undisturbed samples which are taken from Gediktepe Formation, it isdetermined that excessive consolidation settlements can be expected under structuralloading.Key Words: Campus Area of University of Dicle, Gediktepe Formation, Soil Parameters, Bearing Capacity,Geological M
