Evaluation of burnout, hopelessness, anxiety, depression levels among assistant and specialist physicians working at Dicle University Faculty of medicine and their relationship with plans to work abroad

Introduction and purpose: Contributing to the literature on these comprehensive correctable working conditions, determining the goals of the residents and specialist physician working at Dicle University Faculty of Medicine in this hospital, limiting the birth, hopelessness, anxiety, pressure, determining the goals of the physicians who plan to work abroad, determining the reasons for wanting to work abroad, and these comprehensive correctable working conditions. Materials and Methods: This laboratory included residents and specialist physicians working at Dicle University Faculty of Medicine. Sociodemographic Data Form, Hamilton Anxiety Scale, Hamilton Depression Scale, Maslach Burnout Inventory (Emotional Exhaustion, Depersonalization, Personal Accomplishment) and Beck Hopelessness Scale command to the participants. The data obtained within the scope of the study were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS) 25.0 program. Results: Of the participants in the study, 57.0% were men and 53.5% were single. The average age is 30.29±5.63 years. Of the cases, 164 (82.0) were prescribed medicine due to status expectations, 152 (76.0) due to their income level, 163 (81.5) due to family support and 171 (85.9) due to high scores has been detected. It was determined that 154 (77.0%) of the cases were exposed to violence, 154 of the cases were exposed to psychological violence, 31 of them (20.1%) were exposed to physical violence and 2 (1.2%) were exposed to sexual violence. As a result of exposure to violence, 54 (35.1%) of the cases gave a white code and 6 (11.1%) of them received satisfactory results. Within the scope of the study, the mean HAM-D Scale scores were 4.62±4.66, HAM-A Scale scores were 4.66±6.27, IPS scores were 9.05±5.23, Emotional ExhaustionScale Scores were 18.90±5.45, Depersonalization Scale Scores were 11.08±3.37, Personal Accomplishment Scale Scores were 14.45±3.64 and Maslach Burnout Total Scores were 44.27±10.75. It was found that depression, anxiety and hopelessness scale scores were statistically significantly higher in those who had a desire to work abroad. Conclusion: As a result of the data in this study, it was determined that the violent incidents that physicians were exposed to and anxiety about the future were factors that pushed physicians to work abroad.In addition, it has been determined that financial gain is not important for physicians to want to go abroad, but work security and social status are the more primary reasons. It has been determined that family support has a protective effect on physicians' depression, burnout and anxiety levels and causes them to decide to serve in their country.
