Gated housing settlements in diyarbakir: A user-centered investigation

This study focuses on the most preferred gated housing settlements in Diyarbakir in recent periods. The main purpose of the research is to measure user satisfaction levels in these settlements and to create a series of criteria for the designs of similar settlements to be produced in the future. In the first chapter, the history and developmental stages of safe, surrounded walled gated housing settlements in the world and in Turkey are explained In the second chapter, the parameters that make up the satisfaction of the living space (houses, close environment and neighborhood relations) and the contributions to the study are determined In the third chapter, seven-gated housing settlements selected as the study area were introduced, and the survey technique and evaluation format used to obtain data on user satisfaction levels are explained. In the fourth chapter, user satisfaction levels were determined in gated housing settlements in Diyarbakir. It has been determined that there is no significant difference between user preferences for living space of gated housing settlements that are developing horizontally or vertically. However, only one of the seven settlements (Vadi Evleri) found that the level of satisfaction of the users' living space is quite high compared to other settlements. When evaluated from the standpoints of other perceptions (housing security, site security control, neighbor relationship, sense of belonging, property value, luxury housing perception, neighborhood prestige, expectation satisfaction), the satisfaction level of horizontal settlements was found to be higher. In the last part, the important points that provide data entry in the direction of user preferences in the design of future residential settlements for the future in Diyarbakir city are emphasized and suggestions to improve the level of satisfaction have been developed.
