Abstract (EN)

The current study was conducted through November 2020 to April 2021 for determining the relationship between soil seed bank density and germination of prevalent weed species in lentil fields of Diyarbakır province. A total 104 soil samples were taken from 0-15 cm depth and 1/8 m² width from 2 farmer wheat fields and 1 uncultivated field situated in Bismil and Sur districts in Diyarbakır province. Soil samples from Bismil district were taken before and after plowing. The seed bank in Bismil district belonged to 4 families and 5 different weed species. The species with the highest density of soil seed bank were; Amaranthus retroflexus L. (160.0 seeds/m²), Sinapis arvensis L. (50.11 seeds/m²) and Apera spica-venti (L.) P. B. (7.90 seeds/m²). The samples from Sur district were taken only after plowing. The seed bank in the Sur district belonged to 6 families and 8 weed species. The most prevalent weed species in the Sur district were; Ranunculus arvensis L. (63.2 seeds/m²), Sinapis arvensis L. (62.4 seeds/m²), and Galium tricornutum Dandy. (40.8 seeds/m²). Field surveys were also conducted in the lentil cultivated sampling fields. A total 19 different weed species belonging to 12 plant families were recorded from Bismil district during survey. The most prevalent weed species of these were; Convolvulus arvensis L. (9.75 plants/m²), Sinapis arvensis L. (8.75 plants/m²) and Vicia sativa L. (6.5 plants/m²). The survey conducted in Sur district identified 16 weed species belonging to 11 botanical families. The most frequently observed species with the highest density in the Sur district were; Sinapis arvensis L. (12.75 plants/m²), Ranunculus arvensis L. (7.75 plants/m²) and Galium tricornutum Dandy. (7.25 plants/m²).
