Abstract (EN)

Diabetes Mellitus is an important cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. In recent years, its prevalence has been increasing in our country as well as in the world. OGTT is a diagnostic method with high sensitivity in the diagnosis of diabetes. Although OGTT 2. hour plasma glucose level is used as a diagnostic test in the world, the first hour measurements are not performed in the routine. The aim of this study was to determine the diabetes predictors based on the initial OGTT of patients without diabetes. Patients older than 18 years of age who had undergone OGTT were included in the study for any reason at Akdeniz University Faculty of Medicine Hospital. The exclusion criterion is the diagnosis of diabetes when OGTT is performed. . The total number of patients included in the study was 5874. In addition to the development of diabetes, age, diagnosis of diabetes, the use of antidiabetic drugs and the need for additional treatment were investigated in these patients. In our study 1587 (%27) patient have been diagnosed with diabetes. Of 1587 patients with diabetes, 1072 were female and 514 were male. In the basal OGTTs of patients diagnosed with diabetes, the plasma glucose level at the 1st hour was found to be more predictive of fasting plasma glucose and the 2nd hour plasma glucose elevation in terms of diabetes development in the future (AUC: 0,76). At the 1st hour plasma glucose limit value was determined as 179 mg / dl. It was determined that metformin was the most preferred treatment in patients diagnosed with diabetes (72.9%), and additional treatment was needed in 188 patients. In 79,2% of patients who needed additional treatment, 1 hour plasma glucose value was ≥179 mg / dl. This data is predictive of the prognosis of diabetes as well as predicting the development of diabetes at the 1st hour of plasma glucose. In conclusion, in our study, OGTT 1 hour plasma glucose level ≥179 mg / dl was woluble to be significant in predicting the development of diabetes in the future. It is also understood that this value may give an idea about the course of diabetes in the future. Type 2 diabetes is a preventable disease if necessary precautions are taken. Predetermination of patients at risk of disease can prevent future morbidity and mortality with various treatment approaches. This protect countries from high-level treatment costs. At the 1 st hour of plasma glucose is a valuable parameter in this sense, and the use of it in daily practice can be detected earlier in individuals with diabetes risk and may prevent the development of diabetes.
