The effect of foreign trade data and air cargo transportation on LPE: A study on G-20 countries

With the development of trade between countries, the role of logistics activities has increased significantly. However, with the strong logistics performance, the development of trade and the diversification of export items, it provides an increase in foreign direct investments and moreover contributes to economic growth. In this study, the variables determining the logistics performance of the G-20 countries were revealed with an ordered logistic regression model for the years 2007, 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2018, using the data of the Logistics Performance Index (LPE) published by the World Bank. . LPE values of countries; Foreign trade data were handled together with transportation and economic variables, and at the same time, the results of the multiple classification method were also discussed in order to reveal the relationship between independent variables. Thus, the consistency between the status of the countries subject to the study in the observed LPE group and their place in the predicted group was also determined. The main findings of this study; It is determined that the variables of foreign trade, national income and air transportation have a statistically significant effect on the Logistics Performance Index. Empirical research results show that there is a relationship between LPE and air cargo transportation. This study revealed that air cargo transportation, foreign direct investments and container port traffic contributed significantly to the high success of the countries in their logistics performance. determined that it had no effect.
