Abstract (EN)
In recent years, the role of literature as the main component and material of its original texts has accelerated as a teaching of creative thinking rather than a final goal. The aim of the study is to examine the effect of critical reading and writing on critical writing skills of students of the Department of Translation and Interpreting at the university. In this study, which was a quasi-experimental study, the procedure was applied with independent variables and only the Experimental Group was applied during the study. In this study, the "Ennis - Weir Critical Thinking Essay Test", designed by Ennis and Weir (1985), was used. The scales were applied to 30 undergraduate students of the Department of Translation and Interpreting at a private university in Istanbul within the compulsory course of "English Language, Literature and Culture for Translators". As a result of the study, it was investigated whether the educational teaching method applied is comprehensive enough for a new curriculum. The findings show that the students in the target group benefited positively from this research to develop their critical imaging skills for the evaluation of the Ennis-Weir Critical Thinking Essay Test. A quantitative increase was observed in the results of both the Experimental and the Control groups. However, the difference between the test results of the Experimental group in which the study was performed according to Edutainment methods was 114 points, while this increase was limited to only 7 points in the Control group in which Edutainment was not performed. According to all the data analysis performed (ANOVA, Kruskal- Wallis and T-Test), the result is not significant at p < .01. Accordingly, the results showed the qualitative and quantitative increase and success only in the Experimental Group.
